6시 반에 출근을 해서 화장실, 전시동, 계단 외부 그 유뮬이 잘 보일 수 있게끔 유리 닦는 거. 그래서 너무 깨끗하다고 칭찬하시는 관람객들도 계시고. 우리나라를 대표 할 수 있는 유물들이 소장돼 있는 곳에서 한 일부분의 일을 한다는 게 자부심을 느끼고 보람을 느껴요. 20년정도 됐습니다. 아무래도 박물관 일이다 보니 자부심은 있죠. 전시장이나 수장고 위주로 관리하고 있는데ㅇ. 전시 기획하는 쪽에서 요구하는 온-습도 위주로 많이 신경을 쓰는 편입니다. 습도는 보통 50~60%, 온도는 20~25도 정도 관리하고 있습니다. 박물관을 처음 시작과 마지막을 장식하는 역할을 하고 있다고 생각합니다. 전시 물품이 바뀌기도 하고 여러 가지의 활동들로 인해서 계속 바뀌고 있지만 관람객들이 안전하고, 유뮬들이 안전하기 위해서는 항상 똑같은 패턴의 일들이 적정한 수준에서 이뤄줘야. 계속해서 유지가 되죠. 저희는 기초가 되는 사람이지 않나 라는 생각을 하고 있습니다. 박물관의 조사연구는 마치 주춧돌 처럼 기초를 다지는 일이라고 생각합니다. 유물을 등록했을 때 등록정보가 아주 기초적인 정보이기 때문에 그 정보가 정확하게 맞는지 더 다른 추가적인 정보가 없는지 좀 더 검증을 하고 심화된 자료 조사를 해서 정리 해서 전달하는 일을 하고 있습니다. 유물과 사람 사이에서 유물에 담긴 이야기가 더 뚜렷하게 전달될 수 있도록 전달자 역할을 하는 거 같아요. 전시를 기획한 사람 입 장에서는 이 전시를 통해 하고 싶은 이야기가 있기 때문에. 그 이야기를 하기 위해서 내가 하고 싶은 이야기의 가장 적합한 유물을 적합한 맥락에 그 모습으로 갖다 놓으려고 해요 그러니까 감독처럼 전시유뮬이나 주연배우나 조연배우처럼, 스토리에 맞춰서 그 자리에 놓여서 역할을 한다고 생각합니다. 유물은 실제 이제 우리가 볼 수 있는 입체적인 물건이잖아요. 이 내용을 크게 확대해서 보면 역사의 한 분야이고 좀 더 구체적으로 볼 수 있다고 생각해요 좀 더 관람객 얼나마 이해하기 쉽게 풀어내냐에 따라서 가볍게 다가올 것 같아요.ㅣ 관람객들이 와서 재밌어 했음 좋겠어요. 모르던 걸 알았네? 그렇게 재밌어 할 수도 있고. 마음 먹고 와야 되는 공간이 아니고. 그냥 잠깐 지나가다가 그냥 잠깐 지나가다가 한번 둘러고 갈까 이런식으로 좀 편안하게 느껴지는 공간이 됐으면 좋겠어요. 유물을 어떻게 관람객들에게 잘 보여줄까. 공간은 한정되어 있고 저희가 보여주고 싶은 거는 많고. 그래서 관람객들이 이 부분을 집중해서 봤으면 좋겠다는 걸 먼저 고려를 해서. 크기나 생김새에 따라서 높낮이나 깊이라든가 이런 것들에 대한 고민이 반드시 필요해서.. 공간 디자인은 유뮬을 잘 보여주는 데 있어서 가장 필요한 부분이라고 생각합니다. 해설로 말하자면 관람객을 가장 가까이에서 만나고 호흡하는 일이에요 일방적으로 저만의 생각을 전달하는게 아니라. 전시를 그때그때 준비하시는 학예사 선생님께서 전시가 완료가 되면. 일단은 저희 먼저 불러서 어떤 의도로 기획했고 또 유물들은 어떤 코스롤 배치 했으니까 알려주시면 그걸 바탕으로 해설을 진행하고. 관람객들도 뭐 본인들의 알고 계신 문화, 역사에 댈한. 그런 지식을 깨우쳐 주시기도 하고요. 가족이랑 방문하든 학급 단체로 학교 친구들이랑 방문 하건. 교실에서 배우는 그런 딱딱한 역사가 아니라. 좋은 기억으로 남았으면 좋겠아요. 저희는 조선왕실이다 보니까 애들한테 설명할때는 이거 레어템이야. 이거는 일반인이 가질 수 없는거야 이런식으로 아이들의 용어를 끌어디기 맞춰보고 싶었어요. 어려운거 다 빼리고 단순히 보는 것에 그치지 않고. 오감을 만족 시킬 수 있도록 다양한 체험활동을 조금 더 와닿는 문화적인 향유 과정을 느끼게 해주고 싶었어요. 수장고 들어 올 때는 제가 업무를 맡은 지가 몇년이 되도 항상 긴장이 되요, 대략 9만정 정도 수장하고 있고요. 저희 박물관은 왕실 관련 유물들이 많기 때문에. 어보라든지 곤룡포나 궁궐에 있던 현판 같은 것들이 저희가 소상하고 있는 특징적인 유물입니다. 혼자서 들어와서는 안되고요 최소 2인 이상 마스크 착용하고, 라텍스 장갑을 끼고요. 또 귀걸이 라든지. 목걸이, 반지, 이런 장신구들 제거하고. 볼펜을 사용하면 행여나 잘못해서 유물에 닿아 문제가 생길까 봐 저희는 연필 사용을 시본으로 하고 있습니다. 보존처리를 거치지 않으려면 유물이 손상부위가 없는 게 제일 최우선이라고 생각하거든요. 저는 최고로 보존을 잘하는 방법은 관리를 잘하는 것이라고 생각해요. 그렇기 때문에 그 유물이 잘 원래 상태 그대로 유지할 수 있게 하는 것이 수장고 관리자의 가장 중요한 역할이라고 생각합니다. 보존처리는 병원과 같다고 이해하시면 쉬울거에요. 유뮬이 곧 환자고 환자가 병원에 처음 가면. 제일 먼저 하는 일이 어디가 아픈지,왜 왔는지 증상을 확인하고 진단하는 거 처럼. 유물이 보존과학실에 들어오면 어떤 상태인지 또 유뮬의 이력이 어떻게 되는지 먼저 확인하고 어떤 방법이 좋을지 진단을 해서. 그 증상에 따라서 가장 적절한 방법과 재료를 사용해서 보존처리를 진행하는 것이라고 설명할 수 있습니다. 처리 과정을 보면 이제 모르는 분들이 봤을 때는 그냥 심플하구나 생각 할 수 있는데. 사실 이게 처리자 입장에선 굉장히 부담감도 크고. 그리고 처리 기간도 굉장히 오래 거리고 재료 수급도 쉽지가 않아요. 어떻게 보면 힘든 과정을 거쳐서 딱 완성돼서 이제 수장고로 갈때 굉장히 뿌듯하면서 한편으로 후련하기도 하고. 자식을 이렇게 이쁘게 키워서 보내는 엄마의 마음이라 하거든요. 전시에 나가거나 또 아니면 사진을 찍어서 도록에 실리거나 할 때 자부심을 많이 느끼죠. 우리 손주가 모처럼 노는 날이라고 해서 들어 오자고 했어요. 와 본적이 없어요 서울에 60년 넘게 살았는데 이 안은 처음이에요. 나도 처음 와 보니까 배울게 많구나. 좀 신기했던 거는 가구들이 생각보다 유럽풍의 가구들이 많았던 거에요. 깜짝 놀랬어요. 왕비나 조선 여인들의 옷감, 장신구들이 너무 아름답고., 고급스러워서 그게 인상적이었어요 사실 경북공은 많이 오는 것 같아요. 근데 이 근처에 국립고궁박물관 있다는 걸 모르는 사람도 있어서. 여기에 온다고 하면 고궁박물관을 꼭 한번 들려 보라고 해주고 싶어요.
